So how are the Apple Stores chaining down these little machines?

From the pictures it looks like there's something plugged into the USB ports, some kind of alarm that triggers if it's unplugged, I'd assume.

EDIT: I'd recommend against unplugging it in the store just to find out. :p

ugh.... for the 1000th time...

they're using USB alarms. Unlpug it and you'll know about it.

Probably the same way they do the iPods and iPhones...superstrong adhesive.

That is correct. They've been using those since 2003.

Ad they're very loud, especially if your friend is drunk and decides to see how heavy a MBP is while you're standing next to it.

That's interesting, because the security cable and power cable are clearly bundled together as they come out of the display table and run to the left side of the machine. I can't see where the security cable swings around to the right side of the machine to plug into the USB port.

Edit: Ah, MacDailyNews (http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/16259/) has a good video of it.

all the pics from the stores have white things on the usb ports. i'm guessing they secured the cable under or round the back of the machine to stop accidental unplugging.
