Hi,

I have read many posts by other Powerbook users describing a problem I am now experiencing but, as yet found no solution.

My PowerBook G4 1.5GHz has 'lost' its superdrive, the system profiler reports the only ATA attached device is the HD and I can find no CD device. As you will guess my superdrive has stopped working. I have attempted many solutions including clearing volatile and non volatile RAM on startup (command-option-p-r/n-v) and booted into open firmware in order to release the CD stuck in the drive with no luck.

I have just purchased a new superdrive which arrived this am, I thought this could be the solution and installed it correctly but to my frustration the problem remains..... and to add to it i've lost another disk inside the new superdrive unit.

My reasoning now leads me to believe there is a motherboard issue. As stated I have seen many others with similar problems and would like to know if anyone has managed to resolve the issue I am experiencing.

Many Thanks
Steve
