build quality for notebook definitely hasn't been up to "apple standards" lately.

i agree... and a lot of people were saying the same thing with the first 10.2.8 upgrade... is apple cutting corners? i'm sure they'll get back on track... i hope...

I don't think the build quality is any worse then it ever has been. That's not saying it's bad but that there are always bugs with new products.
Anyone remember the battery problems in the 90s?
People are quick to forget past problems and jump on new problems as if nothing has ever happened before. Also with the advent of the internet problems get blown out of proportion. If someone has a problem they post it on the internet. If someone is perfectly happy with there product they go about there merry way and know one knows that some if not most people actually don't have any problem or not ones they consider to be important.

this is a difficult issue. on one side, people likes product design changes every 3 years(?).
naturally, people would want slicker, faster, better, notebooks. who would want to get a newly designed notebook, which might be twice as thick as the last one?
there are disadvantages. surely. like i said, a very difficult issue.

speaking of ibooks, they have just been updated. G4, Airport Extreme, Bluetooth, 6 hours on battery, 256mb ddr ram, slot loading combo drive. And cheaper than the powerbook 12" :-)
