Can I still activate Far Cry

I have heard for a while that Far Cry had been made free, but was ad-supported. This led me to avoid it, but now I seem to have nothing to play on my mac so i decided to download it. It is a huge file (2.68 GB!). As im downloading I looked at a couple of forums and one of them said you couldn't activate the game anymore. Is this true and if so should I just delete the file and free up space or keep it just in case?

When did you download it? I believe Ubisoft is not offering it anymore. It was removed from fileplanet because non-us residents were downloading it. At the time fileplanet had something up on the page saying it was not available and that they were looking for a fix to keep non-u.s. people from downloading it. Later, I read somewhere that ubisoft decide to nix the whole idea.

You might just want to buy it. Amazon sells it for $10 and I've seen it used as cheap as $6.
