The system just gives you a three week day when you order a macpro with 8800... that's how its programmed... just give you the exact 3 week date from the time of purchase.

I'd like to believe that when Apple gets them ready to go, they will all ship around the same week. I'm expecting a shipment within the next two weeks of my machine, even though I have a late Feb ship date.

Only time will tell.

happy to see this. hopefully the 8800 will be READY at feb 13.

like someone mentioned above, the system is automatically dated 3 weeks from purchase, but i don't believe it will take that long

I had an awful dream the other night that I waited until April to finally get my Mac Pro... and just as Fed Ex arrived, it fell down a flight of stairs... Fed Ex didn't say anything, but left it at my DOA. I don't remember what i did, but I just remember the horror of having to wait another week to get it straightened out.

I look forward to getting it so I don't have to think about it any more and I can focus on work. Err.. there's another nightmare... the pile of work waiting and building up for me.

Actually, it's five weeks from the purchase mark. Since I ordered on the day of release (Jan 8th), it gave me a shipping date five weeks later--Feb. 13th. Tomorrow will be exactly four weeks since the purchase...

I ordered on the 10th and it's supposed to ship on the 15 of feb. I ordered a Compaq laptop BTO a couple of years ago and my buddy ordered his about two weeks after mine and ours both arrived the same day. These companies build them until they fill however many shipping containers they've reserved on a boat that comes over here. So just to break this down: they know they are getting the 8800's (or whatever odd option) on the 5th of feb (for example)they'll put the machines together, then once they've filled the shipment they'll update the apple site. I bet whoever has the earliest date will be when most people's will ship. I'm guessing everybody will update on the 12th or 13th.

As far as I can tell, for the UK anyway, really it's just a matter of waiting for a shipment of 8800's to arrive on Irish shores and make its way to he assembly factory. hopefully a week after that, about everyone UK-wise will have their order satisfied.

Mine is coming 2-day air from Asia (since 1-day isn't available according to Apple)

When I bought it, my Cart said 3-6 weeks. And the final confirmation says ships by Feb 13..

I have never bought an apple product that didn't ship atleast slightly ahead of schedule.

I am crossing my fingers that it ships by Friday. I have 6GB of Ram and a BLu-Ray Burner waiting on my desk for installation. Totally Phsyched!

No BTO for UK customers and maybe europe are assembled in Ireland, standard models come from China.

Not necessarily the 8800GT card will still have to be shipped from china/usa so they will have a head start in that dept. ;)

That's only because when you ordered yours the system was set to 3-5 weeks... then Apple changed it to 2-3 weeks. Remember, when you buy your Mac Pro, the website automatically gives you the latest date. So if it says 2-3 weeks, the system will just throw at you the exact 3 week date. The system is just doing that to follow its own programming. So back when you ordered your Mac Pro, the dates were still 3-5 weeks, so it gave you the 5 week date. It just did what it was supposed to.

I'm nearly certain Apple will be shipping everyone's mac by the end of next week.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Honestly though, you got to stop posting your theories as facts. You have yet to present anything concrete to prove that Apple is going to ship a day sooner than the ship date. Just because you say it frequently doesn't mean it's true. No offense. I hope to God they do ship early. But that's just wishful thinking.

Listen, I just want my Mac like everyone else, but there is a fact to base that the ship dates are just 3 week calculations from the time of purchase and are arbitrary. Look at these purchase/ship dates from two users in this very thread:

When the Apple Store was programmed to 3-5 weeks:
Ordered Jan 18th
Ship March 15th

When the Apple Store was programmed to 2-3 weeks:
WHAT?
i ordered yesterday and it says ship march 3rd.. what the??
hope you get it before they refresh the Mac Pro.
:D

And I ordered not too long ago and have a mid/late February delivery date.

I just can't honestly believe that the Mac Pro i ordered just a few days ago will arrive a month sooner than the individual who oredered Jan 18th. If I were Apple, I would program my order site the same way. Just plug in the 2-3 week estimation and have the system calculate the exact 3 week date from the date of purchase. Just hand them a safe date. Its only obvious (not a theory) that the Apple site is currently just giving a 3 week lead time from the date of purchase. If you order today (before 4pm), it'll give you a ship date of Feb 26th (3 weeks from today). That is a fact. 100%.

My theory is simply this: Apple will not ship all over the place on these shipping dates, especially giving me a system before the guy who ordered one in mid january. It's just not fair. Sure, they'd be honoring their ship date, but I'd like to believe Apple has values here. Yes, still a theory, but my guess (call it crazy) is that Apple is going to ship these once they're ready and ship them all at once (or around a week time frame) and beat these crazy ship dates. I'm not saying its fact, just a really good guess there, man. I'm just trying to help simmer the frustration of folks who think they have to wait till mid march for ordering mid January when I ordered my machine just the other day and getting it in the same month of February.

But the data that you are posting doesn't even match your theory!
The first one is 8 weeks for shipment, the second one is 4 weeks. Peace must have ordered just the 8800GT card.
