I know the :apple:TV is saposed to run hot, it is designed to be a massive heat sink. I have read about proper ventilation. See attached pic, is this enough space?

I would strongly recommend open space around the sides in addition to the clearance on top.

Also, it looks like you have too little clearance over your receiver. I don't know if you have a digital amplifier but if not I'd advise a different configuration.

Here's what I did... Note this is an older picture before I added the AppleTV. When I got it, I added another shelf to the audio rack (it's a Sanus modular) above the receiver and placed the AppleTV on the top shelf with open space all around it.
