emulate windows IE on a mac without bootcamp/parallels?

i am developing a CSS signature for a client who uses half macs with Mail.app and half PCs with Outlook. i know IE renders differently, etc.. and i want to be able to test my code in some kind of IE emulator (because thats what outlook uses... right?) on my mac without paralells/bootcamp/etc...

is there any simple way to drop an HTML file into something that will render it as IE does i can put on my mac? (the one in my sig)

Why don't you want to use parallels? I can't think of a single reason why that isn't a good option.

There is a Mac version of ie, but I don't know if it renders things the same way as the windows version, and it's a discontinued product hasn't been update in many years, and is now quite hard to find a download of.

i'll give you two reasons: the client refuses to pay for parallels and the client refuses to pay for the windows license.

i could have sworn that i read somewhere (i thought on this forum) of some kind of virtual emulator of just IE specifically for this purpose. i will be damned if i can find it tho. :(

If you're on the tight kind of budget that won't allow a ~$150 business expenditure, then maybe you'd just be better off borrowing a friend's MS Windows computer for the duration of this one project.

Yepp, that is what you are looking for, its called Darwine, it will let you run a lot of windows apps

Yeah it works great, but I cant get it to display flash and png image's even if I use png hacks. Very good to just look so the design is same in IE.

I use it from time-to-time just to see how a design looks. It's accurate enough most of the time.

I had hope for this but was disappointed with how unstable it was. Most of the menu bar and url field don't show up well.

If you are doing this project on a Mac then go ahead and build for Firefox, then use the free browser shot services to get an idea of how well the site looks. Then copy your project and borrow a Windows system. This way you spend nothing...

i did find this:

which is not perfect, but when using BBEdit to tweak my code, i can work and save it on my server instead of locally and use this to see how it looks.
