I'm using an iBook. I see there are more PowerBook users than iBook users. On the other hand, there are more iBook users than PowerBook users. So who's idea was it to list PowerBook twice?

And I can't live without it. It is true, once you switch to the Mac, you are hooked!

5 month anniversary today, happy anniversary Malaika (the iBook's name).

OK, it is definitely past my bedtime! :D

yeah, they should combine the powerbooks, kinda misleading as it is. I, for one, have a Powermac. It has a blazingly fast, all crushing speed of 450 Mhz. Yeah, I need a new computer. Anyone rich and want to buy a poor college student a new powerbook, or powermac? Maybe I'll write Gates and ask him too, he has lots of money.

"PowerMac" is a misleading category. All of the above are technically PowerMacs.

Perhaps it should have also been broken down to G4 desktop, G3 desktop, etc.

PowerBook G4, 1st rev. 500 mhz.

I must admit, after spending over $3000 on my machine just over two and a half years ago. Man my machine is getting old, but for the time being, it works for everything I need it to, though admittedly it doesn't seem nearly as fast as it use do.

I'm just praying that Panther isn't too much for it to handle, especially considering I just sold my copy of Jaguar!

I want a new machine, next year...maybe next year.

This data will be useful to apple since they can identify what part of their custormer base this readership is.

Why would Apple care? Grandiose delusions that Steve reads and acts on what he reads here? I know he says he reads rumor sites but you think it has to be this one?

all macs are great, but *IMHO* the apple laptops (esp. TiBook and white ibook) bond with their users the most. i like the feel of my TiBook more than any AlBook i've used. it'll definately be hard to part with this thing, and its sad thinking that one day i will have to. luckily i got mine at the right time -- mine is the 1GHz Superdrive 60GB airport, the top-of-the-line-EVER TiBook. although, i wouldn't mind having a powermac G4 or G5 desktop... by the way, i voted for the top powerbook one. whatever difference that makes.

400Mhz Tibook

I bumped the RAM to 768, and dropped in a 40GB Travelstar with 8MB cache and 5400RPM.

To be honest, I see no need to upgrade for at least a year. I do music production (Live/Reason), video (iMovie), and use iPhoto and iTunes constantly.

I know a newer machine would be faster, but I truly want for nothing here (well, the new screens are a bit brighter), and if Panther rumors are true, even I, with my lowly 8MB VRAM will get a little performance push.

I could probably keep this for a few more years, but I'll likely sell it a month or so before Applecare is up.

I'm positive Apple keeps track of this website, reads the forums, etc.

Apple is about producing a kick-ass enviorment for its customers, and the best way of getting feedback is to come to forums like these.

Funny that I've never had a problem with any used macs I've owned (Performa 475, Quadra 660AV, iMac - rev a), but this snow iMac is the bane of my life.

Ehm ... what about AppleInsider, Mac OS Rumors (a very bad one, I know, but still), LoopRumors and macosXrumors? And hey, what about MacBidouille?

I know, TS and MR are the two main ones, but that doesn't mean the others don't exist (anymore).
