The battery light indicator on the battery itself. My friend just got a BlackBook the other day, was reading the manual and then pressed the button the on battery, and it light up. It blew my mind, I thought that the button was just a screw or something, and the lights were just breathing holes for the battery b4 that Lol.

I had those on the original 400 MHz Titanium Powerbook G4 from early 2001 - not sure if they were there on earlier models of G3's.

OMG, that is amazing. Works great with Photo Booth to take pictures and iMovie to take videos.
And all mac laptops have integrated microphone too!

And all the buttons with the letters on them, it turns out they aren't just randomized letters, you can actually use them to put characters on the screen!
Hmm... I wonder what would happen if I alphabetized them???
Ynvuld lle ds gelq dwxikgut...
Holy ****, OK I'm going to have to advise everyone to not to alphabetize the letterbuttonthingies! Apparently they were put where they were for a reason!!!

Don't let it get to you.
The battery light indicators aren't really standard on most laptops, and since it's always on the bottom, it's not something you see constantly.
And for everyone who is making a mockery of this thread, ease up. We were all newbies once.

On the old Compaq Pentium laptops I used to use at work they had battery charge indicator lights too, but guess what? They were on the inside face of the battery. So you had to take the battery out of the laptop to check its charge. Er, like d-oh!

My Dell Inspiron 8500 batteries have these little light looking things on them but I've never seen a light come out of them. Is there some magic I need to do to get them to show up? Going on 5 years now, and about to MBP, so obviously not urgent :).

OK, I have to laugh. It never occurred to me that the icon on the battery next to these lights was a button :)! I thought it was just to indicate that those lights were for battery life. But, as it turns out, you can press it - LOL.
******, that's funny. I have 3 batteries, and I've been using a system of putting them in different pockets of my laptop case to keep track of which ones were charged.
You guys can make fun of me all you want. Just glad I solved that mystery before I abandoned my Dell :).

Ha... this thread cracks me up.
Apple has been doing this for a long time... i know the Powerbook G3 and G4's had them too. I'm almost certain Dell copied Apple on that feature... Dell likes to copy Apple in case anyone has noticed.
Good thing Apple keeps making mostly original stuff. :D

Dell did copy it. When my sister got her Dell I checked it out and I saw the button on the battery and I pressed it and it did the same exact thing. Dell can't come up with their own ideas?

I saw the button and thought:
"Oh, the charge indicator button."
Now, where's the fun in that? ;)
Seriously though, I'm sure myself and many others read many extensive reviews on their future Apple laptop BEFORE buying. If they had they would've noticed most reviewers mentioning this feature and so knowing about it and anticipating its use before they got their laptop.
After all Apple products carry a price premium over their PC counterparts and you find yourself tallying up advantages in features before spending the cash:
Remote Control - Check.
Backlit Keyboard - Check.
Mac OS - Check.
Beautiful Design - Check.
Battery Charge Indicator - Check.
etc.
Well I did anyway ... :D
