Hey all,

We're currently have some Macs at my place of work (which primarily is a windows domain), and while the mac can see the domain name when we click into it from the Finder, nothing comes up. This has actually worked in the past!

Anyone have any suggestions? help!

Also, is there anything in OS X that acts like Windows: Start->Run command?

Because if there is something like that, then i wouldn't really need to use the Finder.

thank you!

Rudy,

For "Start > Run" on a Mac you can use either Spotlight or download an application called Quicksilver (which seems to be quite popular as an application launcher).

As for the Windows domain shares, have you tried the finders "Connect to server" function (Cmd+K shortcut)? From this you could type in "smb://<windowsmachine>.<domainname>/whatever/path/is/shared" and it should present you with an authentication prompt. From there you could use your Windows Active Directory user name and password. Ensure that the user name is in the form of "DOMAIN\Username" (I believe this is correct, I don't have an Active Directory server to connect to so I'm not sure on this)

Yay!! That did it!!!!

Thank you so much!

I really really appreciate it! 🙂

thanks again!
