Is it very obvious when you've opened an tv?

I'd like to hack my brand new tv, and upgrade the HD. But if anything goes wrong, can I just replace all the original parts and will apple be none the wiser?

From what I've seen from the take-apart photos, removing the rubber on the bottom leaves some residue. Does it ever fit again properly?
