how do you get a view of multi-core performance?

Here and there I've seen people post visualizations (meters) showing how the different cores of their systems are functioning. What are people using to see that information? Activity monitor doesn't seem to have anything.

Activity Monitor has a couple different views, there's a CPU Meter only that has a few VU meter-style bars... is there some screenshot in particular you're thinking of? I can't be more specific without some reference.
