Does anybody know is this only happening on the 1.6 model or the 1.8 too?

Presumably the SSD keeps the machine closer?

It happens on both, for power, heat, and battery reasons.

I can confirm that I get cores intermittently shutting down on my 1.8

Sounds like a core breach. Can you eject it?

I wouldnt know coz I enjoy socializing and contact sports and Im not a trekkie.
