moving file to external harddrive in bootcamp

I am trying to move a file from my main hd to an external. i keeping getting an error that says i don't have enough memory and need to perfrom maintanence on it but i stll have 9 gb left on the partition and plenty of room on the external. is there any thing i can do to resovle this?

Max file size in FAT32 is 4GB. You're slightly over that limit. ;)

i didn't know there was limit. is there one on NTFS

nope.

using ntfs, your file size is limited only by the size of your volume.

But.. OS X has limited read and no write to NTFS volumes.

Someone just released a 3rd party NFTS add-on for OS X, but I don't know if it works and I'm not willing to part with $40 to try.

There's always MacFUSE as well, but I didn't find it to be very user-friendly.

What about formatting the drive hfs+ and using macdrive 7 that way both OS's
will be able to read/write and your not got that silly 4GB file size thing

oh and whats the name of that NTFS add-on

I've never used MacDrive, again, too cheap. But for the most part I've heard good things.

I just added MacFUSE Core and NTFS-3G an hour ago and now have read write access to my 160GB HD which is NTFS (I bought it and formatted it before getting the MB).

A doddle to install and use - and both free :)

Yep ive heard of this paragon,there was a long thread awhile back thats seems
to have dried up,last time i looked it seems it was none to stable so i didnt
bother trying it .Ive used macdrive 7 its a excellent product well worth the
£££
