record streaming audio

I just got my 1st mac...it came in the mail on Tuesday of this week. I was wondering what kind of programs are available to rip streaming audio. Any help you all could give me would be greatly appreciated.
 
Audacity can record your output. But I guess for ripping a constant stream it wouldn't be so great.
