I'm looking to play some older games, Baldurs Gates, Diablo etc but those old games max at like 640x480 or 800x600 resolutions.

On a 1900x1200 screen it looks pretty horrible to say the least does anyone know some tips / tricks to make the games look better on the IMAC?

Also anywhere to get these older games for cheap? Im thinking about installing Paralles or VMWARE for GAMETAP to play some older PC games since I have a membership there.. Which would be best for gaming?

Hullo,

regarding diablo and baldur's gate, my guess is the low res is something you'll probably have to deal with. I am by no means an expert on the topic, and would take somebody else's word on it over mine any day, but it seems to me that would require some extreme modding on the inside of the game.

As for playing those windows games, depending on how old they are, you'll have no problem running them on vmware or parallels - however, if you're looking to do some more high-end stuff in the future, or if you just want to utilize the full power of your system, i would definitely reccomend boot camp. what games were you thinking of playing on the windows side?

If you can play them in windowed mode it will look better.

Yeah I did but 800x600 on this 24 inch screen makes it hard to see anything!

You may want to think about picking up an older PowerMac to play those games. The blue and white G3 towers go for about $25-$40 from my local Universities property disposition.
