iPod touch New touch...Battery discharged

Just picked up a brand new Touch. When I started it up, the batter was discharged, all the way in the red. I was under the impression these came with a full charge. Could this mean my device was opened or something?

Batteries slowly lose life over time (mine is at 80% after a week on the shelf), dont worry bout it at all, perfectly normal, Charge it up and its good to go

ok cool, thanks. It's a 2008 week 1, so I guess its been sittin for a month or so.....

So, how can you tell what week it's from? I'm curious about mine.

In the serial number, 3rd digit is year (ie 8 for 2008), 4th and 5th digits are week in that year.

Wow, very good to know. Another Wow: I bought mine yesterday and it's a 2007 week 48. It sure was on the shelf a long time. I live in a small'ish town🙂
