I've had this once, it's a known thing with Leopard that a reboot fixes.
Maybe there will be a fix in 10.5.2? (hopes...)
If it does happen, you'll see the "Caps Lock" and "Num Lock" lights on, although you can turn the "Num Lock" off, still only the numeric keypad section of the keyboard works.
