It seems like yesterday I was checking this appletv forum every 1 minute to see if the appletv update had come. Why check it myself when I have about 20 other users checking none stop? Are we all getting a little excited? I am!!!

Technically Wednesday, because that's when they announced the 1-2 week delay. But here's to hoping!

I might be overly cynical, but if Steve's original deadline of two weeks after the keynote meant nothing, is there any reason to suspect that the vague indication of "one or two" weeks more is set in stone?

Look, Apple is very committed to doing this. It is in their best interest. Things happen, especially in technology industries. Apple has hardware, servers, media-conversion, software updates, and a few other things to coordinate to make this work.

I am being patient -- that's my point. It just seems overly optimistic to rely on the update being released this Tuesday. If it is, I'll be among the first to download, but if it isn't I won't be surprised. It seems to me that the whole point of saying "one or two weeks" rather than giving an exact date was to indicate some vaguery about when the update would actually appear...

I was at our local Apple Store and asked when the update for ATV will be out, and they replied," Sometime in February." :( not exactly what I wanted to hear or they just don't want to commit to anything.

Point taken. Sorry.
I think that like most software companies, they misjudged the amount of work involved in finalizing this product. I've been in the software business for a long time, and I still underestimate effort.
I used to joke that programmers were like the opposite of dogs when it came to man-years.

Dont ask the Apple Store... as a former SoHo employee they no nothing more than we do. Even the CSR's know nothing... Apple is a very hush, hush company and the only people that know anything are Steve himself and those very close to the project.
