1, and he didn't like it. Only because it rearranged 20Gb of badly tagged music iTunes style. It ought to give a warning before doing this, with the option to turn off organising folders.

The new version 4.1.1 doesn't do that anymore by default (rearranging folders)

None, they all seemed to figure it out on their own. Oddly enough, there is one that wants it but only has windows 98, so now they are thinking of possibly upgrading to a mac :)

A tough call as I have at least ONE convert. Who knows how many more as I advertised highly on my blog.

Choosing a mac over Windows 2K or XP.... mwhaah! (fingers moving as in a stereotypical chef's approval of a dish)

It should read "persuaded" to download iTunes, not "convinced".

I've persuaded three and all three have loved it, but only after I showed them how to tag their music.

I am surprised at the # that said none. If you know of someone that has a PC it's almost your responsibility to at LEAST mention it to them.;)

I can honestly say about 8 more of my friends would use iTunes and the iTMS if it supported other mp3 players. They all agree the iPod is the best, but have already invested in a RIO or what have you or only want to spend $100 on an mp3 player (i.e. a RIO etc.) As a result, most of them look to buymusic.com for their music.

I have persuaded three people to download and use iTunes, one being my mom who is the biggest convert now. She didn't have any songs to start with since she's never done anything w/ digital music but now she's having the best time ripping all her own cd's. She loves the iTMS which I sent her a gift certificate to get her started on. The coolest thing is my mom has been listening to the different radio stations and now has a huge passion for ambient/electronic music... she's almost 53 too.
Considering she bought our first Mac back in 89/90 (a Mac Plus) I can't really call her new to the mac community but she's very excited about me passing on my iMac to her next year when I get my new Power Mac. She's in the process of getting all the people she works with in her office using iTunes. She's gotten very good feedback from them, many who again, have had no experience with digital music. They are all amazed by how easy it is and now don't feel so locked out of a big part of the generation.
This I believe is what is going to be the driving force with iTunes. We may only pass it along to a few people, but if they pass it along... it's like a positive social disease! ;)
(I just had scary memories of high school health class so I'm going to end this now...) lol

Just one, but now here and her two kids are using it and she says it's one of the best pieces of software that she's used. She already had an iPod and MusicMatch just wasn't doing it for her. I think she blamed Apple for her trouble...until now.

one.
after downloading it to windows (she uses more willingly linux than windows!) she asked me to look for more RAM to her toshiba.
i emailed her the details of the ram yesterday. she ran to me in IM "WAIT, HOLD ON ... DON'T BUY ME THE RAM! .... I THINK ... I WANT TO SWITCH, NOW."
so, after showing her der digital videorecorder (whatever it's called) works on mac, and modem, graphic tablet, digicam, printer do it as well ... she knows which mac she wants. and edu discounts make it sound easier.
so yes, i told her to download itunes for windows before... :)

well, i think i know like about 2 persons that use windows. 1 used to work for apple and he's switching back so it was temporary and the other ... (aww! don't beat me) is my sister. if i get my parents a mac so my mum can use ichat av (she hates typing, and im pretty sure thats the only program she'd be interested in, she's 70.. ) maybe my sister would then need a machine that can run ichat av ..
:p
oh wait, i have to ask her to download itunes for her windows.

I've found more interest in the jukebox than the Store (although that's nice too). This can be for Windows users what it was for me: the elegant solution that makes me actually WANT to rip my CD collection.
Music lovers like the idea of shuffling, sorting, and categorizing ALL their music. But some want it to be EASY and painless.
One PC user I convinced is rearranging their home around hooking iTunes to the family stereo :) They are also interested in an iPod later on.
Interestingly, the Mac app that I've gotten the most interest from among PC users is Soundtrack. And they aren't media pros, they just think it's fun! (Which it is.)

i got 1 to try it out. he loves it as an mp3 player, but he doesn't like the itunes music store... he says he'd rather buy an album rather than just one song, then i told him that u can dl a whole album, then he said that he would rather pay the exdtra $5 for the case, lyrics and cover...

I answered 20+, but that is a little misleading. I only convinced 3 people to use it, the others had it thrust upon them. All the XP machines we sell now have iTunes installed, and set as the default multimedia app for the formats it handles. Of the 3 people that installed it themselves, one will not be using it, as he has about 20gig of music encoded using WMA... and having ripped multiple gigs of music from CD's myself, I don't blame him for wanting to keep them that way. I explained to him about converting WMA's to MP3's, but he's happy the way it is and that's fine. He's thinking about getting a new car stereo, though, and when I explained about cd head units that could play MP3 CD's, his devotion to WMA seemed a little shaken.. we'll have to see if he comes around.

I got my father to download it and install it, and after a few minutes tutorial, he bought an album and now wants an iPod.
He has 13GB of mp3s, which he's now in the process of re-tagging.
Of course, the real question is, will he buy a mac next time? I'm not sure, but he did forward the NYTimes review of Panther yesterday, so he's certainly interested.
I'm sure this is a big hope on the part of Apple (attracting users to the Mac and appreciation for the platform), and in this case it seems to have had an impact.

None for me yet, but I only know one windows user (you could say I'm very lucky!). And that user is my brother who claims to hate computers. Clearly, it's because of the OS he has!
I won't relent, and one day he'll make the upgrade.

I have persuaded three people at work to download itunes. Of course three months ago I convinced them to buy ipods, so the jump was easy! I have also convinced at least 8 people to make the big switch to Mac. Man, I should get comission! ;)

hahaha i've found out, the best way to make pc users switch to mac is just to show off ur mac products, a good friend of mine would get a mac if he had the money, and he's gonna get an ipod in a few months (ironicly, he just baught an archos jukebox 20 about 2 months ago...). and my cousin wants a laptop now that he's off to college. he prefers a mac, but he'll take whatever his father gives him. :-P

Take a look at Acid from Sonic Foundry/Sony. They have a free version even...

Only one, unfortunately. I've told another 2 people, and they both said they didn't like it (without even trying it first!). I've told a few more people too, but I've got no idea whether they ended up using it or not.

I converted one guy with hardly any trouble.
He likes my ipod anyway and did buy a second hand windows one off the net.
Anyway he uses musicmatch and it took him ages to figure out how to work it, he even got me round to show him how to creat playlists. I found MM annoying anyway, it took me a few minutes to get anything done, bad program glad i don't use it.
Anyway when itunes came out i downloaded it for him and told him about it, he has seen it on my mac and didn't seem interested.
When i handed over my usb pen drive with itunes on it, i told him, "Its way better than Music Match". He gave me a weird look as to disagree with me. I said "trust me, its THAT good".
A little later i got a text message from him saying "You were right about itunes".
Even if it did format his ipod and wipe everything off it because he didn't import his music onto itunes anyway.

hey today, i used a projector and my pb 12" and played a few dvds on a wall, and my youth group from churh was amazed by os 10.2, and loved it when i put a dvd in, it would automatically start playing. they liked the speed and thinness of the powerbook. heck the youth pastor looks interested in it, but he says he's "too old" to switch (yea right!) and my youth pastor said that if he had the money, he would buy the new 12" ibook g4. its funny though, the pastor at my church still doesn't believe me that my computer hasn't crashed.

Well, I tried to tell one guy to download it, but he's still running Windows 98 (poor fellow...). All of the other Windows users I know don't care about computers. So I guess that puts me at zero.

Around 9 plus my blog. Lots of people are eyeing the switch to Mac now which is great.
I have sold 6 iPod's this year, bought 4, sold 8 Mac's and bought 2. I have also released 7 pieces of OS X software.
I think I need a comission. ;)

i only had to mention that it was out, then my brother couldn't wait to get his hands on it.
i also know another person who is going to get it as soon as he has a chance. so that's 2 for me. :p
it seems that most PC users don't need convincing, they know what good when they see it. :D i'm typing this from my college's computer as well, and what do i see on the desktop when i log in - a iTunes shortcut. :D

HA! Thursday I get him to download iTunes. Just over a week later he, on a whim, goes to the Apple Store and drops nearly 4K on new equipment. He dropped Win2K like a bad habit and picked up a 17" PB, 1.33Ghz, Superdrive, digital video camera, Keynote, FCE, and .mac. Welcome to the community Big Mike!! :D
All of my other friends....beware
In addition to that, word is going around my hall to pick up iTunes for sharing libraries. My roommate has iTunes now, but it doesnt like his CD/DVD drive :(. On the good side of that, I was still able to convice him to get a 40GB iPod. He was impressed with my old 10 and needed one thats just as cool.

It is well know by many subscribers to this fourm that I use windows, but I did download iTunes as soon as I heard about it.
I still use winamp because it has its own video player, can convert PCM to MP3 and vice versa and doesn't rearrange everything.
My MP3 list is only 250 strong (I listen to music I have on CD on CD,) and most tracks are incorrectly labled so the iTunes search function is of little use to me.
However for anyone new into the market it is a great product, but since old habbits die hard it's not for me.
