Time Machine: Migrate 160gb to 500gb drive?

I have a Western Digital 160gb MyBook as my current Time Machine backup drive on my 2.2SR MBP. I recently bought a 500gb MyBook as a replacement.

How do I let time machine know to migrate my existing backups to the new drive AND start backing up to the new disk?

You're looking to clone the drive and start using the new one. If you are also a SuperDuper user, I think the Leopard version does this as well.

If you don't mind

If you don't mind the re-initialization of the backup you could just go to Apple>System Preferences>Time Machine. Then click "choose back up disc" and then time machine will schedule a complete back up.

Simply use the free SuperDuper trial to copy the TimeMachine backup to the new harddrive. It's trivial; it will take a few hours to copy. Then disconnect the old drive and tell TimeMachine to use the new drive. It will see and use the existing backup.
