As cool as this may be, I personally thing Apple need to keep their focus on the markets they currently hold.
Once you start to branch to far out, you loose your sense of quality. (ie, Microsoft. They've tried to get their hands in every market imaginable, now look.)
That's just my thought. Flame on...

I agree. There's already a lot of competition in the video game market. And loyal customers to each respective company. I don't think that Apple would be able to get enough market share to make it worth their while. I'm sure they would be innovative with their gaming. Perhaps using some form of multitouch with the screen. But honestly I don't think it would sell unless it comes with a lot of memory and a way to sync with itunes.

I disagree. A digital strategy that includes music and movies, but no games? I think that leaves out a lot of potential revenue. I agree they shouldn't get carried away and build a console to compete with the xbox. However, they already have a potential game device in millions of people's hands already. I can see the iphone as a competitor and successor to Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP. You already have games on the ipod, and I think that the iphone's touch screen would be better than the ipod's scroll wheel for games.

Macrumors has a thread here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=431518). I would love some games on the iPhone, but I have no doubts that it couldn't topple the DS.
