Hi, I'm wondering how durable the macbook surface is? I am wanting to put my white macbook into my bookbag but im worried that plastic folders might scratch it

Pretty durable, but I keep mine in a neoprene sleeve when traveling.

I've been borrowing a white MB from school while waiting for the Penryns to come to the MBP, and I've put it in my backpack every day for almost a month. I'm pretty careful with it, of course, but I've yet to see a scratch on it. A sleeve wouldn't hurt, though, especially if you can get one for cheap.

I have a bookbag that has an internal sleeve for my computer, but they are rather durable. Like others have said, a cheap neoprene cover would do you well. They sell them everywhere, including my school's bookstore. Here is a $20 one off amazon.

I also use a sleeve (http://www.meritline.com/laptop-sleeves-case.html), and mine looks fine.
