View Full Version : Please help- beginner with Safari problem

My first post, and I need help. I'm using a Mac OS X Version 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6)
Whenever I ask Safari to print online coupons, it just unexpectedly quits.
My granddaughter re-installed Safari (and lost all my bookmarks, but that is another problem for me), but the problem persists.
If anyone has any ideas that might help, please share them. And keep in mind that I am a novice user, senior citizen, and clueless about computer technology.

I'm afraid it might just be a consequence of having an extremely old version of OS X (and thus Safari) combined with the website you're viewing. Safari is up to version 3.0 and the Web is a quickly changing place.
Where are the coupons you're trying to print? Perhaps someone on the forum still running Panther (OS X 10.3.x) could take a look and see if they have the same issue.

Try a new user account as well, could be some account problems that is making Safari quit.
A quick solution to the problem is to use the "shift + command + 4 " key combo and take a picture of what coupon you want to print and just print the screen shot rather than print from Safari.
Not the best but an easy solution

As someone who prints off more than his fair share of online coupons I can tell you that your machine needs an upgrade. Most of these coupon sites sent you the coupon as a PDF. Unfortunately Safari 1 does not have built-in PDF support, as a result, your computer trys to either launch Adobe Acrobat or Preview. To it properly, you must have either Safari 2 (included in Tiger) or Acrobat 8. Alternativly, you can hold down the option key when clicking the button that brings up the coupon, forcing it to be downloaded to the computer.
You may find the PDFs of the coupons in the default download folder of Safari or on the desktop and can open them from there.
