I have version 3.0.4 installed, but version 3.1, from what i've read on these forums is supposed to be much faster.
I downloaded the latest "nightly build", it appears as a zip file, which I have unzipped. But i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do with the contents, there's no obvious "installer" How do I get Safari 3.1 running on Windows XP??

According to the webkit wiki (http://trac.webkit.org/projects/webkit/wiki/Nightly%20Builds)
Windows Users - At this time you must also have the Safari web browser installed. You can then run the nightly build of WebKit by running the file 'run-nightly-webkit.cmd'.

I was sincerely surprised over the weekend when I tried to download webkit nightly build on my vista box.
Its big, 12MB in size, 2x the firefox, 3x the opera. And it won't run! unless you have previous safari installed. I mean, if this is only a shell, or only part of the package of a browser, how exactly did it get so big?
Even on Mac, its now bigger than firefox?

I had the same problem but the "run-nightly-webkit.cmd" file stuck out like a sore thumb. Running it copies 50 files to run the WebKit nightly.

OK thanks for your help... I've done what's been suggested - should it still say Build 3.0.4 (52315) when I click "about safari" in the Help menu??

yes, at least it doesn't distinguish itself from safari on mac, I would expect same for windows version. :)
