I'm new here so I'm not sure if this goes in this forum but I'm planning on replacing my stand Apple SATA Drive which came with my MacBook but I'm wondering how would I transfer all my data on the new hard drive? Could someone please answer this for me?

Get an external drive and back up to that or if you have a dot mac acct back up to that

One thing you could do is use an app like Carbon Copy Cloner (http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html) to clone the contents of your old hard drive onto your new one.

Superduper! (http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html) is another app that can do pretty much the same thing.

Agreed. Easiest way is to back up to an external. If you have Leopard, use time machine. It works very well.

HERE (http://www.macinstruct.com/node/130) are some pretty good instructions for accomplishing this task. You can use the free/trial version of SuperDuper! for this task.

Hope this helps - GDF

SaintDiablo,

I just did replaced my wife's original HDD in her MB this past weekend. Check out my thread titled "... open-heart surgery ..." in this sub-forum.
