View Full Version : Question about FFIL font files

Feb 11, 2008, 03:07 PM
The G5 I inherited when I started my current job 2 years ago has a gazillion "SSi" fonts in the font list. I'm an old school font user who always used PostScript fonts in Suitcase on my own systems and at old jobs. I tend to avoid using many of these SSi fonts (I assume they're TrueType), except on the odd occasion I'm looking for something different.

My problem is this -- the fonts are grouped into FFIL files which each contain 30+ fonts. And when I package my files for printing, the font collect grabs those huge FFIL files as opposed to just the font I have used.

What I would like to do is be able to edit those FFIL files. Extract the fonts into single font files and delete the crap fonts I would never use. Is this possible?

I have Suitcase X1 and FontBook 1.0.2, and am running OS 10.3.9. I'm willing to download another font utility if necessary to accomplish this but I'd like to keep things free if possible. Thank you!
