OS X 10.5.2 - Help!

I ran the software update and installed it then it went to restart and said installing files ect ect but the progress bar didn't move there was no blue just grey but it appeared active then the windows disappeared and I've just got this constant circle thing spinning (not the beachball) in the lower middle of the screen.

What's wrong?!

Big update might take some time. How long has it been spinning for.

Mine spun forever. I'm on it now.

It's been spinning now for roughly 30-40 mins I would assume.

Everyone else's has been quick, why is mine being so slow :(
