Printing a paused dvd frame

I have some homemade dvd's in which I'd like to print some frames from. The only thing is when I pause the dvd there's no print screen to choose from. I've tried a screen shot and the picture shot but neither work- Any ideas out there?

Use VLC. Apple prevents it in DVD Player by default, as it is against the DMCA.
