it no longer is functioning all dyslexic and backwards. When it gets dark... now the backlight turns on instead of off! anyone else who used to have this problem still have it?

I still have the problem (upgraded to 10.5.2 yesterday).

I've tried rebooting, but it's still there.

Do the SMC reset.

Do the SMC reset.

I tried that, but it didn't fix it. I'll try it again.

same here. 10.5.2 didn't fix my backlighting issue. I reset smc after the update -- again, nothing.

10.5.2 fixed it for me as well. I did not have to reset anything. I simply installed it and after the reboot the keyboard back light started working better.

Anyone with this issue tried resetting their P-RAM?

The update did not seem to help me.

My backlight keeps turning off to save power I guess but then never seems to turn back on... even in total darkness. Even though I have it set to NEVER on the slider in System Preferences it still turns it off... grrrr.

Is there some way... maybe a command line trick to just disable the MBA from controlling it through the light sensor?

I am happy to just do it all myself with the F5 & F6 keys

I my opinion, the keyboard light should ONLY go off when the MBA goes to sleep. Period!

It is a bit annoying to have it just turn itself off for no apparent reason.

I may try the PRAM reset, but I have no real hope for it.

I LOVE this little laptop, but the backlight really bugs me as I use it a lot at night in dimly lit rooms.

Oh well.

I look forward to any fixes... I am going to try Lab Tick and see if that helps.

This is really great. My keyboard light worked until I upgraded to 10.5.2.

Any ideas?

I think someone mentioned a program Tab Lick (or something like that) in another back light keyboard thread. That program would do exactly what you want it to do, i.e. keep the back light on all the time except when off or sleeping. If I can find the thread, I'll repost with the program name.

Well, looks like I mixed up the first letters. The program is Lab Tick. You can download it from Apple here.

OK,

So My backlight problem is the same as all the others I have read about. In bright light it turns on, in total darkness it turns on.

Lab Tick will fix it sort of. I can now just leave it on all the time, but I am noticing that it really seems to affect my battery life especially when I put it to sleep. With Lab Tick running and then sleeping, it seems to use more power while asleep.

Is this possible?

I am going to play with it some more and see if this is really the case.

I have done an SMC reset. Do you think doing a PRAM reset would be useful?

Thanks in advance.

I have the problem that the sensor dun seem very sensitive to the light, the keyboard light will be on when its dark, and to see it off, ill have to let the sensor face the light... even with all lights turned on in my room.
