TM Backups painfully slow - anyone else? (10.5.2)

"Preparing" now takes in excess of 20 minutes for a regular backup. Used to take 1-3 minutes, depending on how much I've added since last backup. Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas why?

My still chugs along at the same speed.

FW 400.

Yes, the preparing stage now seems to take forever... 🙁

Preparing took about 15minutes for me, but I havn't backed up in over 80days prior. When it got to backing up, it backed up 37GB in about 20-30mins.
