This machine is also to be a replacement from Apple and they put a priority onto it to get it to me ASAP!

I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm moving on with my life. Did I make the right decision?

I skipped the G4 completly. I had a iBook G3 and then where I worked in a photography studio I had a quad PowerMac G5. At the time I felt that was fast. Using it now. Well.... its no slouch but its not so fast.

All these orders you guys are talking about are all NEW only or new and refurbished? I was looking into getting a refurbished model as everyone on the forums say theyre like new and checked very well for problems. However I doubt a refurb. order would be delayed by the newer books coming out, right?

Well I decided I'd rather have the current keyboard rather than the extra 200mhz in speed...and even an 8800gt wouldn't render 1920x1200 all THAT much better than the 8600...so I ordered mine last night :)

I was, however, hoping that it would be here by the weekend, but I was informed today that it would ship from China by Friday :( So my expedited shipping didn't get it here by this weekend :(

I ordered a new MBP. Gotta love the smell of opening up that well-designed box!!! Oh... and I'm obsessed with buying new of everything... I don't know what's wrong with me.

Mines being shipped to me as a replacement for the last, very troubling little bugger. The order was put in on the 10th, it says it will ship anywhere between the 12-14, yet has sat for two days as "prepared for shipment".

Even though I'm a new switcher, and only used the thing for a total of a month, it was hard going back to my old Gateway for a a week or so here. I've really spoiled myself now. Setting the bar to high I say. I guess from now on it's $2500+ :apple: laptops for me! :p

No I put the order in on Tuesday the 5th. However it only left China today and should be here to me in Ireland mid to late next week I'd say.

Same here!!! So from everyone's experiences, exactly how "accurate" is this Standard Shipping 5-7 business days thing before receiving your product? Is it truly 5-7 days? I don't want to wait that long!!!

i've had a replacement 2.2 MBP on order, and it originally said "ships by feb 13-15". well, it didn't ship. so i checked this morning and it says, "ships by feb 20-22". maybe that's a good sign for the new MBP's?

i don't know. apple is bending over backwards to make me happy though. this is the second replacement for defective mbp's that i've had. i've had two mbp's and about 16 repairs so far. :eek:

maybe they're just being kind to me because of all the hassle i've had.

i agree, it really makes no sense to order a 2500 dollar computer when everyone knows that it will be updated within 2 weeks and then all of the people who just got their 2 week old mbp's will have buyers remorse and ask if they can

Mine shipped out on Friday and had an estimated arrival date for Wednesday as well but I just checked the status and it's in Oakland, CA!!! So HOPEFULLY I'll get it by Monday... or Tuesday... but preferebly on Monday. I love new toys. :D

I'm hoping for next Tuesday, but who knows? I'm happy to give others hope. Honestly, if they give me a new MBP - and it works - I will consider it even with Apple. This has been my first experience with Mac computers, and so far it's been a little rocky, though I still wouldn't go back to PC (couldn't if i wanted to - all my software is for Macs now ;) )

Same im having fears about the keyboard also, i think it more than likely will happen but i hope it doesnt. I think one of the things that makes the macbook pro look as good and professional as it looks is the keyboard, the curves to the keys and the fact that there arent spaces between them just makes it look more professional and better. Im going to wait until the new machine comes out and if the new one has the macbook keys ima rush to the store and buy the 2.4 current gen. Ill sacrifice a slight speed increase for the keyboard i like so much better.
