What's the deal with the quirky calendar in OS X on my powerbook?
Everytime I boot up, the calendar in the dock displays July 17. I have to click the icon to open calendar and then it resets to the correct date. Is this normal? Can I set it so the date is always current?

unfortunately, for now, that's the way it works... it's not meant as an active calendar, just a generic date icon, and they added as a feature the displaying of the current date, only when it starts up tho. you could have iCal set to open at startup, which would do it... ideally you shouldn't have to restart so often...

that seems kind of dorky to me, I guess I'm too used to Windows' calendar. When I see a calendar on a desktop I expect it to be the correct date. I suppose I will just change the icon to something that just says ical if that is possible.
Thanks for your help.

It is a silly little thing, but it bugs the hell out of me too!
You can change the icon if you want, send me a message if you need help doing it.
