Hi,

Using a Mac Pro, I threw some 500GB Caviers into a STRIPED config in bay 2,3 and used Carbon Copy Cloner to dupe my system drive. How do I now boot from the STRIPED drives instead of the default drive? Should I remove the stock drive in bay 1 and move drives 2 and 3 to 1 and 2?

Thanks

Go to System Preferences (under the Apple menu).

Select Startup Disk.

Then select your cloned striped drive.

Restart.

So intuitive yet I couldn't figure it out. Sigh.

Would there be any adverse consequences if I took the default drive out and moved drives 2+3 one bay slot up? I'm a stickler for order.

I have not tried moving a striped drive set.

So this may not work.

This is what I would try:
- Set Startup Disk to your striped drive.
- Restart your computer.
- Assuming that the boot goes fine, then shut down the computer.
- Remove the other drive.
- Start the computer.
- Assuming that this goes fine, then shut down the computer.
- Move the striped drives.
- Start the computer.
- Shut down and install the original drive, and then start the computer.

Many steps. I think this method will give you the least hassles.

Just to let you know, I leap frog the process and yanked the factory drive and moved my striped drives to slots 1,2 without any issues. Seems to boot a fraction faster. It's funny upon inspecting the Apple drive, it looks like they printed a generic Apple logo onto the label of the WD Cavier drive.

Thanks for your help; I didn't get your response before I did what I did and luckily nothing bad happened.

Cool. Thanks for the feedback.
