I've always loved the song...and Ben Harper does a great cover of it too... ;)

I know if I want to woo a girl, I get John Cusack to stand outside their house in the rain, holding a boombox over his head, blasting Peter Gabriel. Trouble is, the girl always ends up going out with John Cusack.
Gah.

It was a great song - probably one of Gabriel's biggest successes, but it managed not to make the cut on one of his 'best of' cds.....I wondering if that was on purpose?
I bought the tape when it can out in the early 80s, it had so many great songs, Red Rain, Sledgehammer, Big Time...

Joe, she's written 65 songs about you, and they're all about pain.

Brains stick with brains. The bomb could go off and their mutant genes would form the same cliques.

Yeah, but that whole boombox thing doesn't work in real life. Even with that song. Trust me.

Yeah, but you're not John Cusack. Are you? Location's probable... Who knew, John Cusack's a Mac user. ;)

You made me check. I'm shocked, but you're right, it's not on Shaking the Tree.
"Passion: Music For The Last Temptation Of Christ" remains my absolute favorite PG album, so I guess I'm glad Zaar was included in that collection.

The song was written about Rosanna Arquette, his girlfriend at the time. Maybe he didn't include it because things didn't turn out happily ever after?
Funny enough, the song "Rosanna" by Toto was also written about Rosanna Arquette.
* Yes, I learned all this information by watching the Carson Daly Show (hangs head in shame)

No you don't. No happy ending. Though, seeing her now, I think I dodged a bullet. ;)
