Recently shipping estimates for similarly configured machines have reduced from 2-3 weeks to 3-5 business days :rolleyes:. So was just wondering if anybodies order for a similarly configured machine, especially 8800 GT machines, have been updated or shipped :confused:. I ordered mine on the 6th of this month. (Feb 06, 2008). Thanks.

Don't worry, I ordered on the 7th, mine got delivered today. My estimate was March 8th. I got free overnight shipping from Apple for my previous issues with the Mac Pro. You MP's will ship in a day or so, maybe less, mine shipped 2-3 hours after going to "prepared for shipping".

I had to re-order my MP 2.8Ghz 8-core with 500GB HDD, 8800GT and AirPort Extreme after a problem with the order I placed on 8th January. Mine has an estimated shipping of between 22nd and 28th February, with delivery between 28th February and 5th March.

I asked the sales guy to put a rush on it and he said he would, but it's been more than 24 hours now, and it's still "Not yet shipped". Not even moved to "Prepared for shipment". Woe :(

I ordered mine with the 8800 card Tuesday the 12th and received an email yesterday that it had shipped. Considering I was originally told that it would take 3 weeks I'm very happy.

I noticed yesterday when I checked the tracking on FedEx's site that they (FedEx) are now giving information as to when the next tracking update will come. Mine was last scanned yesterday, and it says that it's due to be scanned today.

I wonder, if it goes all day (and all night) without a scan, should I call FedEx and say, "Hey, the site says it should have been scanned . . . where is it??!?!"

Probably, I won't. Though I have to say that the change in status caught me off-guard. I called Wednesday morning to try to upgrade my shipping, at which time they said, "Ooops, it's already gone out ground." They snuck that shipping date change in there under my radar.

Don't be too sure I'll get it tomorrow. :) It still hasn't changed status to shipped. It would be torture to have it sit on "Prepared For Shipment" all weekend.

Edit: Also apparently Saturday delivery is not guaranteed with overnight. My Cinema Display that I ordered as part of this got delivered on a Saturday though...

That's bad, but I did ask the guy to put a rush on my order because I'd ordered it on 8th Jan and they were going to delay it by 51 days as of Feb 13th due to them having no stock of the printer I ordered.

I had to cancel the Jan 8th order and start a new one to get it shipped to me sooner than April.

The Mac Mall rep said that they would receive a shipment of 48 8800 GT's on Feb 28, much sooner than the March 26 ship date from Apple. So, I also ordered the card from Mac Mall too.

Mac Mall authorized the charge. Apple did not. Today, Apple authorized the charge, and the Mac Mall authorization fell off. My guess? Apple has the cards and is installing them in the BTO machines. Separate orders will ship shortly thereafter but long before March 26 and certainly before Feb 28.

Again... totally speculation, but I've seen this one before.

I should have mentioned something to clarify, I ordered in January on the 18th but on the 7th of February I decided to change a few things on the order so they told me they had cancel the whole order and start a new one but shipping was going to pick up an not to worry.

It is quite odd also, I read that Apple doesn't charge your credit card until the item ships, however, they charged mine the day I ordered it. Not that I care, 'cause I have the funds available, but just an FYI for peeps who were wondering.

i was wondering about this too. My card has been charged, yet i have had no mention of this from apple, bad customer service in my opinion. I think I may call them and find out what exactly is going on!:confused:

Are the cards really charged? Usually for me they put a hold of the funds so they know they will get the money went they do charge it, so, i guess its about the same, as your avalible money goes down do to the hold...

No, the only way they can see if your card can handle the charge is to ask for an authorization in the amount of the order. It drops off after a few days, since that's all they do. They redo it when they actually ship.

It does take however-many-thousands off your available balance, but just for a short period.

Mine came this afternoon! Ordered Feb 8, shipped Feb 13. Regular/free ground shipping.

And so far . . . knock on wood . . . nary a hitch. Plugged it in and confirmed that it wasn't DOA, then opened it up and installed 16 GB (2x8) of OWC RAM and two 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 drives. I decided just to do what some people recommended, and booted from the OSX Install Discs and installed a fresh 10.5.1 onto one of the F1 drives, which is now my boot drive.

Yes, it came with 10.5.1 installed.

My stock 500GB drive is a WD Caviar SE16, model WD50000AAKS. That I'm leaving in bay 1 and will make it into my Vista/BootCamp drive once my copy of Vista arrives.

So . . . very pleasant. After installing OSX and updating it, and now near the end of the initial Time Machine backup, via iStat Pro the Samsungs are both 80°F. The WD isn't doing anything and it's 97°F. Heh. Both these Spinpoints are nearly silent. I don't hear the MP at all over the air filter I've got in this room, which isn't all that loud itself.

I'd guess that it's because of the shipping distance and it therefore being FedEx Ground. FedEx Ground usually doesn't update their data if it's a short delivery and no US FedEx tracking data has been updated over the weekend in general anyway due to President's Day.

FedEx Ground usually doesn't update their data if it's a short delivery and no US FedEx tracking data has been updated over the weekend in general anyway due to President's Day.That's not true for FedEx or UPS; neither took a holiday today.

Not any of which do I say to be argumentative, but rather to say that if your stuff isn't showing up in FedEx, there's some other reason.

Fedex said they would deliver my package on Feb 19. I was there all along and suddenly I see my delivery status updated to "Delivery Exception". I ran out and there was no door tag. I called Fedex and they said they couldn't do anything about it. They kept on saying they tried delivery. But I was there awaiting the Fedex truck :mad: :mad: :mad:. They will attempt delivery today. He better comes. I wasn't expecting this from fedex at all. They don't even show up nor leave a door tag and update their delivery status. Wish something could be done about it. Congrats! I have not received mine yet, however, according to Fed-ex, it will take 4 days from the time fed-ex picked it up from Apple.

Ordered Feb 14 (valentine's day gift to myself - didn't tell the girlfriend...) received on Feb 19. Got it set up and updated this evening. Been working with and building PCs for 20 yrs, including all flavors of Dell, Compaq, Digital, etc, and homebrewed. Plus a mac mini and a macbook in the last 3 years. Have seen the Mac Pros in the stores and never really thought much about them. But WOW, unpacking it and opening the case to make sure everything was seated - this is really a great piece of industrial design and manufacturing. I think this was a great buy, considering the power (and the quietness, too).

Still need to order extra ram and maybe another drive for Time Machine, but overall, I'm really happy with this box! I will be spending a lot of time playing around with this before I get serious on the big project of transferring old home movie 8mm film to dvd.

My Mac Pro arrived today. Ordered it on Monday w/overnight shipping. Kudos to Fedex for getting me the computer on time, in one piece and barely a scratch on the packaging.

I bring Fedex up because I also ordered a 25.5" Samsung LCD earlier on the same day, using UPS's "Guaranteed 3-day service". Not surprisingly, it has yet to arrive and the kicker is, I ordered the monitor from CDW, which is in the same state as I. Everything delivered by them is always late, and/or trashed. Having a $700 monitor spend an entire week with them is where I draw the line. They never cease to amaze me -- I'm done with them.

I'm pooped (and obviously pissed), so the unboxing/pics will have to wait until tomorrow. Hope you all get yours soon.

I got "shipped" notification on the 21st but nothing since then. Okay, it's only 3 days but I thought I might at least have a tracking number by now. I suspect it's sitting in a half full container in Shanghai somewhere.

Still, estimated delivery is 3-6 March so I won't get too excited just yet. Only checking order status 4 times a day at present, this will ramp up by the middle of next week, to reach a work debilitating once per hour by the end of the week, but I'm cool, I can handle the wait :p

The only time it doesn't work is when Apple take down the order status section, which doesn't go down when the store goes down.

Now the Apple store is back up, I have K+N tracking numbers and "Syncreon Technology" numbers (who are they?)

None of them work in either K+N tracking sites or TNT tracking (but until they take delivery in Holland I wouldn't expect that).

The frustrating thing is that when I bought my last Mac Apecode still worked and I could see when it arrived in Shanghai, when it was booked onto a flight, when it left Shanghai, when it reached Europe distribution, when it transferred to european dispatch, when it went back to european distribution...etc...etc..

Now I'm not even sure if the MP has even left China. Don't even know where my ACD is coming from (Syncreon Technology?).

Still, I'm well inside my original delivery date so not fretting too much but I will have to arrange to be available for the drop-off so as much warning as possible would help.

Just do it, there's no reason it should break. If it was to break, it'll go bust whether 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 is present.

10.5.2 fixes more things than 10.5.1

Bad news: Apple's tracking has got considerably worse since the last time I bought from the Apple Store. I used to be able to track my Macs from Shanghai, across Europe and through UK. This time, the first I knew of where it was (after the "shipping" notice) was the day before it arrived. I was getting a bit frustrated ;)

Good News: It arrived 4 days early! Fingers crossed for you mate. I know where you're at! So far, mine's uptime is 24hrs straight, no problems, worth the wait.

I set it up for Apple and TNT tracking. I have to admit I thought it wasn't working (and said so!) but it turned out it was just poor (as in "non-existent") tracking information. Once the information started to flow, it worked very well.
