iPod touch touch recognised as an iphone

when i try to sync touch to itunes i got the message that my iphone isnt synced correctly and that i should re-connect.im also getting message that usb device isnt recognised...help....i reinstalled itunes and reseted ipod nad that didnt help...
 
Take it back to the store.
EDIT: You could try reconnecting using a different cable.
