Help with terminal

Hey im trying to do the manual CHMOD thing for the emulators on my 1.1.3 phone yet when i get in the terminal it asks for a login and password, what login and password is it talking about?

the terminal application hasn't official been updated to work with 1.1.3 yet.

but there is a fan submitted fix somewhere out there. im shocked there still isn't an update to fix this.
