No more 15' LCD?

Hey everyone. I was just pretending to buy a new Powerbook, and now the 15' LCD is not optional to buy with it. Did apple kill this LCD?

If so, does this mean we should have a 19' pretty soon?
 
I noticed that same thing too - no 15 in. lcd w/ the power book. I don't know why, but I did notice that the 15 in. is still availible on it's own, or with a power mac. Maybe apple just decided not to put in the option for the PB because the thing already has a 15.2 in. screen. who knows?
 
God I hope so. The 15" is so 1990's. 😉

Graphic designers need space. 17" should be the minimum.

I say get ready for the 19". It will go well with my G5. 🙂

Man, the iMac; higher priced than the eMac, holds less RAM, has a 15in LCD.
The eMac; cheaper than the iMac, holds more RAM than the iMac, has a 17in Flat Screen.

I would rather have an eMac over an iMac.
 
But the iMac's 15" lcd supposedly has as much viewable space as a 17" crt, and the iMac can have a superdrive.

Oh, one other thing. The eMac is priced to sell to the educational market.

Actually, the 15in LCD is flat. The 17in CRT is flat. Both perfectally flat. Seems to me as if 17 is 2 inches bigger than 15.

Another thing, the eMac can hold more RAM.

I would not be surprised to see a larger screen in the LCD iMac soon. It would make sense, but maybe not until MWNY. All these new releases puts the different models in direct competition with each other. There is definitely going to be some more new stuff, whoohoo!😀
 
The viewable area on a 17" crt is less than 17" so they probaly have about the same viewable area.

Wait

"Built-in 17-inch flat CRT (16-inch diagonal viewable image size); 0.25-mm dot pitch" off the apple site

I guess it is 1" bigger but its still a CRT, they get too hot

Where do you get THAT piece of info? Both can be configured with 1G of RAM.. And a flat 17" CRT is still not 17" viewable.. that has nothing at all to do with whether the face of the thing is flat...

So in short, take a deep breath, figure out what you're talking about, and THEN post misinformation (hoping for otherwise was too much of a stretch)

take a closer look at the viewable areas. the lcd's are consistenly equal to about an inch higher than a crt version... ie, a 15" lcd is about 16" crt...

EDIT: i was posting at the same time as the other folks. sorry if it seemed i was trying to drive the point home..

Sorry about that. I was thinking about the iBook and the iMac.

Anyways...the eMac still has a bigger viewable image than the iMac, for a lower price....

And the iMac is available with an 800MHz CPU.

it is also not an lcd.

you could buy a massive crt and call it more monitor for the same money as a smaller lcd.

you're not comparing the same products. you can't just say one monitor is bigger so it should be more. the p4's have a higher clockspeed so they should be more too eh?

and also, the emac is for educational folks only. pretty simple concept.

In my opinion, CRTs are clearer than LCDs. You always have to look at an LCD at the right angle in order to get the right brightness/color.
 
well for the better, more expensive lcds you have more angle at which to view them in full glory. but lcds are definitely more expensive to make. no two ways about it.. also more power efficient etc. but i will let the smarter people here list the other ways/reasons they're more expensive/better....

hence the 100 bump in imac prices...
