I finally took the plunge and bought my iMac! I'm typing this from 24" of display beauty. Specs are 24" 2.4Ghz, 320g HD, 1g ram (will be upgrading to four in a couple wks). The thing looks gigantic on my desk where my 19" PC monitor was. I also got a wireless keyboard and mouse for free!! The key board is so small in comparison to the iMac. Anyway here are a few quick pics I took. There are only a couple as the other "unboxing" photos were too large for my hosting site.

There is so many things I want to do I dont know where to begin. Guess I'll start with installing all the software I'm running on the mini. :D

Congrats!
I have a MacPro that has been delivered but is waiting unopened for me to get back in town next week. These opening ceremonies are becoming legendary! Unlike Dell hardware that comes in the plainest and ugliest of boxes with similarly plain and ugly packaging, Apple stuff is always worthy of a little opening ceremony.
Your pictures are helping and yet not helping. ;)

As someone who sold his 14.4" laptop to buy a 20" iMac, and who has had it since August, I still haven't gotten used to the screen size. Just breathe slowly and focus on the upper right corner of the screen. Take a couple minutes to adapt, then try taking in more of the screen at once. :D

You guys are so right. The packaging and attention that Apple places on it just adds to the buying experience and I think that is something that people tend to over look. Like I said I wish I could post all my unboxing pics but maybe I'll have to create a flickr account or something. It was funny because as I was walking out of the store with the huge box people were congratulating me. Any advice from the happy iMac vets?

The only "advice" I can offer is to enjoy that feeling of 24" "hugeness" while it lasts. For me that was about a week having switched from a 20" iMac. It doesn't seem small now, mind you but just normal. There is that feeling of gigantic-ness at first. I sort of equate it to the "new car smell" that wears off about a week or two after you take home a new car. :p
I am still loving my 24" at 6 months and counting as I loved the 20" before it.
Congratulations and welcome to the Mac.

That wireless keyboard looks microscopic in comparison to the iMac it controls. :D
Welcome to the world of iMac! (Got mine in November, still in the honeymoon phase.)

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that.

I know what you mean. I use a 24" Dell monitor at work everyday and the "hugeness" wore off. Still seems big though. Plus I'll be away from the iMac most of the day :( so it'll be a treat to come home to.

They were going to give me the education discount (the girl asked me if I was in school and I said no then she asked if I knew anyone who was and I said yes  ) and when they brought the box out from the back it had the wireless combo. She then said "oh this is the wireless one and is extra, let me go get another", and when she came back with the other box it wasn't a pre-installed leopard iMac. So I asked her instead of the ed discount could she just give me the first one she brought out with the wireless combo and leopard installed and she said yes.

Oh and what do you guys think about there being a refresh of the iMacs at the end of the month? I was going to wait until the end of Feb to buy but couldn't wait. I'm thinking if there is any announcement at the end of the month I'm still in my return window timeframe.
Thoughts?

My opening was amazing. Until my dad ruined it. But first I would like to thank my dad for doing something stupid which ended up being the reason I got an iMac. My dad doesn't realize that in order to get a quality computer you actually have to pay money so he bought us a 100 dollar used compaq (ugh) off ebay and it sucked since the moment we got it, after about 10 months it just kinda choked and died. We barely got it to continue to turn on so we could use it the first few weeks of school but then it just gave up on us about a month before that. So then I started petitioning for an iMac and by some miracle my grandparents bought me one. I waited about 2 months after ordering it and finally got it. I got home from school and there it was. I went downstairs and had it all plugged in and started up and was setting everything up when my dad came downstairs. He decided that it should be my moms computer and forced me to move it to my moms desk upstairs where I could barely use it and then he started setting it up. He put my mom as the only administrator and she still doesn't even know how to work the thing. But luckily since then I have gotten it back downstairs to my desk and hacked my moms password and made me an administrator.

Ha yeah I know. I've had it for 4 years. I was going to do the $100 dollar rebate printer at the store but couldn't make my mind up as I haven't done much research on them.

Congrats on your new iMac. You are in for a treat! The box is great, and as an added bonus, the box has some great uses! We are in flux in our bedroom right now, as we are re-doing a bunch of rooms, and I needed a temporary end-table. Check it out:
