Hello everyone, Just acquired my first Apple and At the momment im actually thinking its a lemon. I have an issue and for the life of me figure out if I have a cpu socket problem. I have currently only 1 cpu installed and it apears to be working correctly. However when i take that cpu and place it into the other socket it does nothing. Except turn the little light on above the stich on and off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance,

What happens if you have both in? If it does the same thing (just the light comes on) then there is an issue with your logic board and you should get it checked out / replaced.

The other cpu smoked, it acutally had a trace on the underbelly that was completely destroyed. So i have no other cpu to test with. And I would like to isolate the problem before i spend money on the cpu as upposed to geting a new logic board. thank you once again for the fast reply
