iPod ipod nano has no sound and album cover pixels scrambled?

My ipod nano has no sound but it says that it is playing.
Also, the pixels on the album covers are scrambled.

I have tried turning it off and on but nothing.
Tried to recharge it, but nothing.

It is not muted.

Any help is much appreciated.
