Why would their website need to be taken down for maintenance? For a spring clean, a service, check spellings...

Not to my knowledge, it only needs to go down for updates.

To my knowledge even that is not necessary, just a switch over... But that would not get everyone talking like this ;). This is the :apple: way.

As ever, the US & Canada store usually go down hours before international stores. US for the main update - Canada because its on the same server. International stores updated afterwards.

At least thats the general idea...

It never ceases to amaze me that Apple's marketing BS (after all, they can update the third-party item prices on the Store on the fly, why not Apple items?) causes so many to behave like so many dogs with a Pavlovian response.

My guess is 'Time Capsule' today.
No chance of an updated ACD. Only update apple will do is to LED displays which just aren't commercially feasible as yet.

I found this little nice script which saves you from manually reloading the AppleStore. When AppleStore opens up this script will open Safari and load AppleStore.

#!/bin/bash

while [ "0" = "0" ]
do
curlgrep=`curl http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore 2>/dev/null | grep "back soon"`
if [ "$curlgrep" = "" ]
then
osascript -e "tell application \"System Events\" to display dialog \"Apple Store back online\nhttp://store.apple.com\"" &
open http://store.apple.com
exit
else
echo "Still down"
fi
sleep 30
done

Save as for example applestore.sh.
Open up terminal and write chmod +x applestore.sh (you need to navigate to the place where you saved your file)
Finally ./applestore.sh to run the script.

What I mean is: What can a 2GB model do that a 1GB can not?
In shuffle mode the difference should be neglectable, since you are not going through it in one go anyway.
In linear mode the Shuffle becomes even more unusable since the pain to access anything particular is growing with the amount of stored content...

I am desperately waiting for an updated MBP. I have been waiting till I had the money together, and now I do Apple seem to be toying with those of us who are waiting.

What surprises is me is, while I understand that a drop from $79 to $49 is good news for those wishing to buy a shuffle in the US, that in the UK the shuffle has stayed at £49.
Given that currently 1 US Dollar = 0.51161 British Pound this is just beyond belief.

Anyway, I can't wait much longer... I may just have to buy an existing spec MBP and be done with it.

Tatster.
