I mostly shop online at www.apple.com but whenever I go home from school I shop at the local Apple store in the mall.

How can you put Apple online store, ebay and craigslists in the same category? Split it up please!

The store happens to be conveniently located about 4 miles away from work and home. I shop more online but I purchase more at the store. That way I get to see and touch stuff and talk with some fellow AppleHeads. :apple:

For buying something that requires customization, I use the Apple Store.
For getting a part / peripheral that just comes as is, I shop around till I find it cheapest with the quickest delivery time. I'm a next day delivery whore.

Either Apple Canada's Online Store (www.apple.com/ca/store), or through a local Apple Authorized Reseller.

I like going to the store, makes me feel somewhat better when I spend 2K+ (because you can't walk in and spend less then that) and take it home then... lol

I buy them in a apple premium reseller in Antwerp.. It's nice to go to the shop and then really touch one before eventually buying your product you desire. And when the staff is polite you have a good feeling :p + you mostly, if your product is in stock, can take it right away with you, and go unpacking it directly.

I get mine at the apple store, seeing as in the bay area there are 3 in san francisco, 1 in emeryville and 1 in walnut creek. Hmm 5 apple stores within a 25 mile radius. I'd be stupid not to get my mac from an apple store. hehe. If i'm super duper lazy, i'll just get one at state but they usually get it there is there is some really good discount.

My MBP (and Leopard DVD) were purchased from Amazon. In the future, I'll probably buy refurb from Apple.

With the closure of the CompUSA, the only choice here is Best Buy. They don't really have stuff in stock, but say they will order for you. I find it much better to order online with Apple than to go to our local Best Buy and listen to the used-car salespeople there. No thanks, thank you.

I've shopped exclusively at Apple Stores. I did wander off to eBay & CraigsList for a few years, but definitely wanted the reliability of Apple Stores for my most recent purchases. Though, CraigsList was an awesome alternative; saving hundreds of dollars for a one year old G5 with 20" cinema display.

Every Apple product that I have was bought from the Apple Store. I just think that it is a better experience overall from a consumer point of view.

Sometimes at the Apple store, sometimes at Best Buy. It just depends on how far I feel like driving.

I have bought all of my Apple products directly from Apple, either online or from one of my local stores. I am very close to the Christiana, DE store, so if I want a stock machine I can get it with an education discount and no tax :) I do know many who have used eBay and Craigslist, however, which has saved them a good bit of money...I guess I just prefer the security and reliability of buying directly from Apple.

Got my first, an iMac Rev A CD 2.0 Intel from the online store. Also an Apple Extreme Base Station, and 6 iPods of various model.
Bought 2 MB's from Apple Store in Tampa Florida.
2 macs from eBay, ( G3 iMac Snow and iBook Clamshell 366 Graphite).
1 from right here on MacRumors, an iBook 466 SE LIME!

I love shopping at the Apple store, though it's usually crowded. I bought my iMac from the retail store, my MB from apple.com, my iPod Touch from Best Buy (because at the time it was a crapshoot when the Apple store would get their shipments). I get accessories at the :apple: store and sometimes online.

So far I've bought stuff from Apple.com, the Apple store near my house, Amazon, and OWC.

Purchase online at Apple. In my case it seems to be the easiest way by far.

The Portland Mac Store.. www.themacstore.com/portland.php - the apple store in downtown portland (pioneer place) is always way too crowded, and I hate standing there helplessly for a random employee to eventually find me so I can check out.. the last time I was there, I waited 10 minutes just to pay for a new iphone headset while employees just wander by helping other people who just came in.. I wish they'd bring back at least one POS area.. however; at the portland mac store, the people there are very helpful, polite, very knowledgeable, and all of them are true mac geniuses!... lol... no more making appointments 2 days in advance to get a problem fixed.. plus, its feels good to support a local business..

While the poll doesn't allow you to choose more than one, I have bought on both the apple site and at best buy. my latest, a 13" mbp early 2011, was at BB and that's because I got an open box deal for the low low price of $800. In perfect shape and returned by the original buyer just a few days into the 14 day return policy. also at BB you can charge anything over $400 for 18 months interest free. apple requires $999 and for just 12 months. so combining open box with the financing deal, it was a no brainer.:D

I try to buy from Best Buy if the price is right due to being a rewards member with them.

Because they all go into the category of online...
Then why do you break up The Apple Store and Best Buy and other retailers?

Every Apple computer I buy is top of the line fully maxed out BTO built to order, from Apples online store. Sure I could save some money doing ram upgrades myself, like I used to. But frankly I've made so much off the incredible gains in my Apple stock over the last two decades, I prefer the convenience of having Apple max it out and send it to me ready to use. Whatever premium that costs me goes right back into Apples profit which is fine with me.

In local Apple stores I could only purchase MBP with I5 processors. In both my 13 and 15" MBP I wanted the I7 processors. The 13" I wanted a 256 SSD... no SSD's available in stock at local Apple store. I order with minimum RAM and upgrade myself. In future I'll also order minimum HD as well and upgrade to Crucial SSDs.

Agree. This is a desaster. Might as well throw Apple stores & Wal Mart into the same category.

Apple Store Online, there's no Apple Retail stores in NZ, only resellers and I'd rather deal with Apple themselves than with some reseller. Makes it easier to manage if there's ever a problem.

To the OP, I think it would have made more sense to have the Apple Store and the Apple Online Store together as one choice. Either way you're purchasing from Apple. Other online retailers could be separate. Just a thought.
You can always buy apple products at this site:
http://maxwells.fantasticproductsmall.com/apple_products.html
They sell through amazon :)
Do you work there? Just curious, because you didn't phrase it like you actually purchase stuff there but more like an advertisement...

For iPhones/iPod/iPad, I always go to the Apple Store.
For Macs, it depends, this MacBook Pro, I have purchased from Apple Store Online.
My old iMac, I have purchased from BestBuy so that way I would get a lot of RewardZone points and get $25 for free.
My 17" MacBook Pro in 2006 was purchased at Fry's Electronics, because the price was reduced from $2,499 to $1,999.
And then a plethora of used Macs I have purchased from eBay.

From Best Buy so far, it's closer than the Apple store and the reward zone points are a benefit also.
