Hi All, new to the forums here, but you guys seen to have all the info. Thanks for that.

I jumped on board the ATV bandwagon once I watched the Keynote this year and of course waited for the upgrade to come through. I lucked out though and got to use my $100 credit from my iphone when buying the ATV! (Yay me!)

But I have to say, I am disappointed on one aspect more than anything else.

I love watching my podcasts. I am addicted to diggnation and TRS and the Tom Green show along with quite a few others. The thing that gets me though is that all though shows show up on ATV a couple if not more days after they are released. They show up in iTunes quickly, but it could be three or four days before they update the list on my ATV.

Perfect example is I am still trying to get last nights show for Tom Green or todays show for Totally Rad and the y are showing up in iTunes, but not on my ATV. I hate having to try and sync everything through iTunes and that was the entire reason I got the ATV in the first place knowing that the ability to subscribe right from my lazy butt on the couch without having to get to the computer to do it.

Any ideas on why it's so slow in updated I am assuming the XML feed or any ideas on how to speed it up so I can get my laze on easier. This walking from room to room and down some stairs is killing me!

I SO know what you mean!! I have the same problem and its very frustraiting to me. Why aren't things matching up between iTunes and ATV?? I mean isn't it the same store? I'm guessing that the ATV creates an index of the podcast listings like every i dont know, a few days it seems. I guess it doesnt know to refresh it sooner. But why wouldn't this refresh every day? I mean, if this is what is happening, there has to be a way to manually refresh it.

Im wondering why podcasts take so long to download to watch, yet I can stream movies almost right away.

Because Podcasts are streamed/downloaded from the individual providers who may or may not have a fast network and may or may not allow streaming.

I watch a lot of HD podcasts which take quite a long time to download and are impossible to stream so when I sit down to watch some TV, I go through my list of favorite podcasts and select a bunch of them to download. This usually works well to get a nice lineup of shows ready to watch.

Just a note on streaming HD. I stream all of my Podcasts to ATV and most are HD. I have no stuttering issues, they load lightning fast and look great.
If you sleep or unsleep your mac (with the associated library) while streaming content, it can suspend streaming and playback temporarily.

Red,

While I cannot answer why the podcasts are slower to be updated on the :apple:TV interface, why can't you just download them on your computer and then stream them from your :apple:TV?

I know it's not the perfect solution, but you can set up your iTunes to subscribe, check and download daily, and then stream from your :apple:TV.

And BTW, you cannot subscribe to anything from the :apple:TV.
