I was at the local target Sunday and they had a $40 gift card with the purchase of a PS3. I popped for the 40gb model (don't care about PS2 games). I've had a 360 since launch and had a Wii for about a year until I sold it.
My impressions thus far...
-More "computer like" than a 360. XMB is neat but I like the 360 blades more
-Blu-ray is really pretty
-System is dead silent compared with my windtunnel 360
-I don't like the controller. The triggers are a nice addition but it feels light
-PLAYSTATION store is cool, but it needs a MAJOR overhaul. Too slow.
-Unit is good looking next to my entertainment center
-Love the startup sound and animation in XMB
-Why the $%^& do I have to install a demo? Can't the uber-cell do that while downloading like the 360?
-MLB the Show is a great demo
-It makes my Samsung HDTV "search for signals" everytime something starts up because it reboots slowly
All in all it's a good system with a lot of potential. Most of my gripes will/can be fixed with the rumble controller and some software updates. I'd say as a media center it's > 360. As a games console it's got some serious ground to make up.
