So, I just sold my old Powerbook G4 running 10.4.10, to a friend. It came back to me with a wierd network issue. Safari says it cannot find the server, Apple updater says it cannot find the server, but Airport says connected (after I log in to my WPA) in the network pane, and Firefox works normally. I repaired the disk permissions, to no avail.Anybody have an idea why the Apple programs can't find the server, but Firefox can?

No particular guess, but perhaps you should go to 10.4.11 w/Safari3 and get the Security Update?
I thought about an update, but the updater says it cannot find the server. I probably could get it from apple.com throught firefox though. It used to work fine when I set it up for my friend, but now it is FUBAR.!??

FireFox using network settings independent of OS X and Safari.

This isn't the first time someone has had a similar issue on MacRumors but I can't find a solution.
