If so, what does the software update do? I haven't plugged in my ipod for a while now.

The latest one is a bug fixer for 1.1.1. 1.1.1 had a weird hissing problem after the phone was paused for several minutes. This upgrade also added support for movie rentals. Whatever this new update is named, it just fixes the few bugs.

I downgraded back 1.03 after the hissing problem and haven't upgraded to the new update yet.

No, I heard you're the only one in the world with that model. :) Just kidding.

I have it too. Yes the one update gave us movie rental support, and then they fixed the hiss just as described above. It didn't really do anything great otherwise.
