View Full Version : airport/router questions

i use an airport extreme as my home router. it's an older model (b/g, not n). i have no equipment in the house that works with n, save for the apple tv, so i don't see the need for it just yet.

i have my ancient powermac g4 as the only thing wired into the router. i would like to also hook the apple tv into it, yet there is only one port. can i buy another router, wire it into the apple tv, and then wire things into the network through that? it wouldn't have to be a wireless router, the airport covers my whole apartment quite well. but i just don't know if i can do this.

i'm pretty sure it is possible, i just don't know how to do it. if anyone has any thoughts, i sure would appreciate them.

That's really weird, in some places they say you need an 802.11 a/b/g/n and in others they say you need 802.11n. What's that all about?
