Here is my question.... do you think that the standard 1GB RAM that Apple offers standard on many of it's computers runs Leopard as advertised?

I don't want to have a discussion of why they do it or about the price of it. I simply want opinions on if Apple should be offering 1 GB RAM standard at all.

I think that 2GB should be the lowest acceptable amount. When i was using 1 GB of RAM on the 3 Macs I have I would look and typically have like 500,000 page ins and 350,000 page outs. I was constantly getting beachballs, freeze ups, Etc. I do use my computer heavily but I don't use what would be considered pro apps.

At the very least IMO a Mac that has upgraded RAM from Apple should not been seen as BTO and therefore not qualify for the return policy. It takes an Apple employee that knows what they are doing 5 minutes to change RAM. How on earth is this "built to order"? I guess maybe they worry about the packaging but come on, that's just lame.

2GB seems like the sweet spot to me for Leopard. I felt that Tiger ran suitably well on 1 GB of RAM, which of course wasn't standard either on Tiger for a long time. Anybody that uses 1 GB only and is happy with it? Should Apple even offer 1 GB with Leopard?
